Side partner Alex Wang sat down with Gary Vaynerchuk on Tea with GaryVee to ask what top agents can do to work together to disrupt and elevate the real estate industry.

• Disruption takes time, and you have to dedicate yourself to the process. 
Gary says, “I've always had the long game in mind.” He spent nine years building his success and points out that it can take decades to have a lasting impact on an industry.

• Don’t let your business skills be undervalued or underrated. 
Gary says, “The thing that made me disrupt the wine and marketing industry is actual operational talent - genuinely being a businessman, not playing one on Instagram.” Operational talent is critical to long-term success. Gary encourages top agents to highlight their strengths as a successful business person. 

• Be a culturally led CEO; to disrupt, you need continuity. 
“Have compassion and empathy - and be a true leader. You can’t spend all your time re-training. One thing that has really worked for me is I build families.” Gary has employees who have been with him for as many as fifteen years, and that matters.

• Be 100% consumer-centric. 
Gary says, “It's not super complicated… bring the most value.” Gary has achieved such a high level of success because his companies are focused on doing better for the consumer - doing more than competitors for the same amount of money. He encourages agents to provide better service and value, be the best, and don’t compromise. Follow this formula and your business will build itself through referrals and repeat business.

Alex also asked Gary what top agents looking to build a successful personal brand should focus on. Gary’s advice? Don’t compromise. “Stay the course [and] cut out non-A winners along the way so that you hold up [your] equity. The biggest vulnerability you have is not taking [on] obvious C and D players.”
